Eyebrow Makeup Faves

Gel Kit

I absolutely love this double socket gel kit in Medium by Elf.  The gel really isn’t a gel consistency; it’s hard to explain.  But it goes on really smooth as if you were using feather stroke wisps of gel.  It doesn’t goop onto the brush at all.  It’s like cream rouge if you’ve ever felt it.  This stuff looks really natural!

Begin by brushing your brow hairs straight up to get below the bottom line.  You outline the bottom of your eyebrow in feathery strokes.  Then you just fill in with light, feathery strokes from the middle of your brow to its tail.

Be careful that the tail is neither flipping up nor thickening up.  I tend to make the tail too thick instead of a point.  You may only want to use gel on the end of the tail.  It’s so pretty and natural looking.  You’ve got to try this!

Eyebrow Pencil

I got the 002 Hazel color from Rimmel London’s Eyebrow Pencil.  I love how thin and silky it goes on.  I hardly put any pressure to get some impact.  I suggest getting a color you think is going to be too dark…because it won’t be.

You start by brushing up those hairs and just outlining the base from the side to the tail.  Be sure to use feathery brush strokes.  Again, this is so simple and really looks natural.  I didn’t know how good an artist I could be!!  I’m so relieved.

I just need to find a color pencil that is closer to my eyebrow color than Hazel.  Even though my thin part of the eyebrow is lighter colored hair, I can’t use a lighter pencil or gel because of the poofy section’s dark color.  So I’ll gladly hunt for a darker color b/c it’s so easy to apply.  I never knew!

This pencil is my favorite because I prefer lower maintenance.  But its brush is so darn stiff and painful.  So if I’m going to use my softer CVS 360 brush, then I’ll just take along my Elf Eyebrow Kit.  Either are just as easy and give the same effortless, daytime look.

Make Up Bags – Gadget BagsIMG_4809

Expressing personal style with travel bags just got a whole lot easier…now that I’m close to a Marshalls (no apostrophe) and TJ Maxx.  They go on clearance in a snap, and new ones are added weekly!  If you think of bags as “housing” items, it makes your suitcase clutter-free.  What do you want to put in your make up bags?   Make Up?  Kid Toys?  Washi Tapes? Craft Supplies? Charging & Tech Cords?  Feminine products?  Visit your nearest TJ Maxx or Marshalls and get a couple…or five for the above mentioned items.  One YouTuber I like watching for travel items is GlamLifeGuru.  She’s pleasant to watch.  I started with the totally cute Zoella and can’t wait to try out her bags when they visit America.  This flamingo bag is adorable!  An Instagram friend @thethriftypineapple had a “Let’s Flamingle” party with the cutest decorations!  But, back on track.  Some bags come in a set, and this entire set was stunning!  IMG_4837

Shoe Bags for Travel

I have never known that some people don’t like their shoes to touch their clothes when they’re in a suitcase.  It makes total germy sense.  Your shoes are stepping on urine, spilled cokes, and going through puddles, and you want to shove them against your shirt neckline or undies??  Ick!

These are very affordable because you can re-use them…and they’re ADORABLE!  One bag from Miamica was $5.99 at Marshalls.  Amazon has Miamica for $19.99 and a Kate Spade one for $18.  It’s your choice though.  They have a divider, and you still have room to put your socks down in your shoes.  The other bag is in my YouTube video above.

Bag Tags

Bag tags are super fun these days.  I would use them for self expression, but alot of people use them for identification if lost.  You could use a piece of yarn or a hair scrunchie or buy one of these.

Keep in mind that if the tag is too loose, that hole can get snagged on the suitcase journey in the belly of the plane or in route to Baggage Claim under the airport.  If you use a tag, make the look as tight as possible.   We put our info inside our suitcase so no one can see our names.  We have used a mailing address label so that it’s tiny print.  Just an idea.

I wish you weight limit max packing, easy travel plans and a suitcase filled with super cute things!

Best Toys For The Airplane @ Target

We have traveled alot since my 11 year old was born.  Anxiety brewed before every trip because I was worried about how other passengers would see my son’s behavior.  People pay good money for their plane ticket.  After getting the “look of dread” from passengers on your row, you can settle in for a smooth flight.  One guy refused to swap seats with me so he sat in between my toddler and me, and our son threw up during the flight.  Hahaha!  But I get it; kids can get yucky if they’re not occupied on flights.  Grace should abound.

At Target this June, I found the BEST things in the Dollar Spot.  I checked target.com and I couldn’t find any of these items so you will have to make a trip.  Bwahahaha!

In addition, I brought home some things I bought and am show casing those ADORABLE things on my video-like the tin of Go-Go Gear Art!

Did you know that The Dollar Tree ships items?  Butttt, they only sell in cases.  However, they have a Pick n Pack section where you pick items from a separate data base, and you don’t have to buy 36 of something; four items is the minimal amount.  For instance, you can buy 4 individual Barbies for $1 each!  This is great if you want to give “new” things to your kids on a flight.  I found stuffed animals, stickers, and even memory game cards.

Toiletries for Your Suitcase

Liquids Bag:

3 ounces or less is the liquids rule now.  When you only use a carry-on, that can be quite inconvenient.  Here are my wins to make the whole process more convenient.

So many cute bags out there, and my favorite is a normal quart Ziploc type bag.  But if you’re in the mood to buy cute bags, KoKoBlossom and SweetMagnoleah on Etsy and Amazon are great options…or Marshalls.  I got mine for free at the Washington Dulles Airport security line.  Most airports offer free ones so snag one and save it for later.  Put your bottle into the bag horizontally-I’ve been standing them vertically for years!  I got more bottles in when putting them in sideways.  In Frankfurt the TSA made me take out some of my liquids from my second liquids bag so that I only was carrying one.  Never heard the rule that you can only take one quart bag, but every airport is different.  Just be aware.  Plan for the worst; hope for the best as Jack Reacher says in my favorite Lee Child books.

Contents:

I carry light make up when traveling with only a carry on: CC Cream, moisturizer for night, eye make up primer and mascara (is it a liquid or not??).  I love love love my Oil Free Eye Make Up Remover, but if my quart bag is tight on space, I opt for Cleansing Towelettes.  I won’t die from a few days of chemicals.  I just will rinse my face off after using these.  I love the old school Pond’s brand and cheap drug store brand.  The Neutrogena had too strong of a smell.

I love the squeezable GoToob containers because they have a suction pucker thing as well as the click lid.  But I’ve also used the super cheap hard plastic ones from The Dollar Tree b/c they’re so skinny.  This time I bought my own bottle of Tre’Semme shampoo just to try.  I can throw away the bottle at my destination so that there is one less bottle for my toiletry bag on the return flight.   Love and London (YouTube) said she puts her foundation in a contact lens case. Brilliant!  Remember that you’re going to have to clean those containers out when you get home.  To me, sometimes that is a pain so I just buy products that I can throw away if I am in the mood.

I have started buying 3 oz containers of toothpaste in the regular toothpaste aisle.  We use them in our home bathroom and while traveling.  But man, they’re big for a toiletry bag!  So I’ll go back to buying a new toothpaste from my grocery’s Travel aisle from now on.  This time around, I found a travel tube of toothpaste AND a toothbrush for the same price as a toothpaste tube…right beside each other.  I’m going to start buying a new travel toothbrush because  I just feel like the toothbrush gets too icky.

Check your grocery store’s travel aisle, but also check the regular aisles where you would find lotion, shampoo and hair products.  I found a 2 ounce bottle of lotion from the travel aisle for $1.  On the regular lotion aisle, I found the same size for 93 Cents.  I also found a 3 ounce bottle of lotion for $2.44.  While having 3 ounces is nice, I’d rather just pay $1 for 2 ounces.  Or bring my own in the GoToobs.

I also recommend Systane Preservative Free Eye Drops for dry eye and jet lag.  They’re individual vials of awesomeness and relaxation.  You can get two days from one vial.  Downy Wrinkle Releaser works but is in a bulky 3 oz bottle.  At the store I saw $3 Off Bug Spray and Suntan Lotion so that would be awesome for hot destinations…especially b/c they will hold you until you can get to a store at your final destination.

How To Shop Your Closet

 Cha-Ching!

I love shopping in all types of venues; trust me.  But I wondered if I really could shop my closet and be satisfied.  So I just tried it.

You are going to be surprised how fresh your “new” outfits seem.  Begin by making a list of how you are going to treat yourself with the money saved.  Just hold up a pair of pants you don’t wear very often and see what POPs.

See what shirts POP when the pants are right next to them.  I either take those shirts out or categorize them in my head.  When I was breast feeding, I could do so much in my head…if I could stay awake long enough.  Now, I have more time to do things in real time.  While you’re in your current season of life, do what works for you.

I like sorting the shirts by color.  Hang the cream shirts up so you can see them all, hang the blue shirts up, hang the unusual shirts up.  You will see which ones you NEVER would’ve thought would match with your pants.  If you have time, try a few on.

It’s so fun because some of the “new” outfits had been right there in my closet the past two seasons.  I can’t wait until next Fall so that I can wear some of the ideas that POPped into my head for sweaters.

Have fun, take your time, and remember, “You’re never fully dressed without…”
