Fake flowers in my front yard are all from the Dollar Store this Fall.Keep those vibrant colors in your front yard going with these Dollar Store fake flower ideas.I got my artificial flowers during the 3rd week of August; I’m making fake floral arrangements for my front yard.I’ll stick some of the fake flowers in pots, and I’ll use some of the stems in the actual ground/soil.
Smart homeowners shop at the Dollar Store just like this florist shop. Can you believe they were there?!
My flowers look like they’ve been through a Texas summer so it’s time to discard them. The day before Hurricane Harvey came through I took out the dead flowers. No spray paint could help the ferns anymore. If you’ve seen my other fake flower videos, I use real soil halfway up the pot.Look what’s really growing! They’re volunteer crepe myrtle trees!I can grow trees but for the life of me I cannot grow flowers.
The ferns were finally transitioned to the big pots in the sky. They were just a bit too blue/green for ferns. And ferns are a little too fake for a full sun front yard ha.
Planting fake flowers has become one of my favorite past times.Arranging flowers allows me to use my creativity but not have the stress of planting at the perfect time in perfect conditions and staying committed to their upkeep. And at $1 per stem I’m just tickled green!
Make sure to check out the video on my LauriePOP Ideas That POP Channel for the brilliant, bright, and gorgeous new ones for this year.
My name is Laurie and I create YouTube videos about Ideas that POP into my head.Welcome to my channel. I’m sharing four make your own lunch-able school lunch ideas. These school lunches will be:
I am not a nutritionist, but I am a mom.I make school lunches, and my son helps make his own lunches.I have used Oscar Mayer’s Lunchables once every few weeks. I like the idea of Lunchables because they’re quick. But they’re expensive. In my mind, if I call them Lunchables, then I’m not overwhelmed with coming up with school lunch ideas.
These are all a base lunch. You would add fruit and maybe a dessert to all of these DIY Lunchable School Lunch Ideas. I highly recommend this green and black lunch box that we’ve used for a year and a half and are continuing through the start of this year with.
The first DIY Lunchable is a take on the regular Lunchable – turkey cut into circles, Ritz and cheese. We toast cashews in the morning and add those.I use my travel containers.
Then, I just chop a cheese stick into big, thick rounds. That way I can use two cheese sticks, but he doesn’t realize he’s eating that much cheese. For this type of Lunchable I don’t need the lids to snap.I also add 4 carrot strips inside this rectangle with a spoon of hummus at one end.The carrots are secured by me sticking the ends into the hummus.Y’all should think about making beet hummus. It makes it bright pink, and you don’t need very many slices ofcanned beets to tint the color.Just blend 2-3 slices of canned beets (drained and rinsed) with store bought hummus.Done.
Naming the food something cool or trendy is a great way to entice kids to try something new.Beet hummus would be called unicorn hummus.
A pita is a great staple for DIY Lunchable ideas for your child’s lunchbox. My pita is turning into a wrap.Cut a big circle with a stadium large cup and separate them into two pieces.Spread the tuna/mayo ( I squeeze out my tuna because it will be so wet by lunchtime). We like our tuna salad dryer.Sprinkle mozzarella cheese or feta along the tuna and wrap it up.I would secure it with 2 tooth picks. If your child will eat lettuce, put that in there. You could also chop up some carrots and sprinkle those in there. Two small ones seem more approachable and less healthy for my student than one big wrap.I would definitely pair red grapes with this meal.
Lunchables have started these new dessert lunchables for school lunches – Dunkables I think.Have you seen them? They look amazing, but look at the calories for this one!!!Make your own.Why didn’t I invent these?I’d be lunching on papaya and pineapple for the rest of my days if I had gotten in on this brilliant idea.
Peanut butter strips with jelly dipping sauce is the third lunchable school lunch idea.Just slather on the peanut butter.Cut each sandwich into three strips, and stack them in a row.I would just put a tablespoon of jelly – a different flavored jelly (apple or raspberry) in a container like my travel ones. They can dip their strips into it.Then I’d add goldfish.Something with color.I didn’t say these would all be healthy meals.
My favorite school lunchable school lunch idea is to chop leftover steak very small or shredded rotisserie chicken – my child won’t eat cold ground beef or ground chicken if it’s cold.Use the tortilla bowl-shaped chips.Add shredded lettuce, cheese, raw red onions, and this easy Avocado dressing in my travel containers.I use them for traveling but look how convenient they are for packing lunches. (Avocado Dressing) Ninja Turtle Topping: Pulse with an immersion blender: One avocado, spoonful of sour cream, half a cup of green salsa, juice from a juicy lime, splash of milk, two shakes of cumin, dash of salt and pepper.Motor boat it.Stays good for two weeks in a sealed container. We use it on Southwest Salad.

This summer I’m guiding you to the easiest and smartest ways to create your own nail art for a beach trip. It’s your “party nail” – that’s when one fingernail design is having its own party. The nine other nails have a solid nail polish color – the wall flowers of your party.Which isyour nearest ocean: the Atlantic, off of California, in the Bahamas, the US Virgin Islands?Let’s make nail art for the summer.
Nice to meet you! POP over to my YouTube Channel to see more detailed pics and demonstrations!
3 Things POP into my head when painting a “party nail” on my fingernails for a beach trip.
1. What colors match my bathing suit?
Some of you may not care if the nails match completely.I just want them to blend.
2. What glitter do I have?
The color of your solids determines which color glitter you will want.
3. Do I want the party nail to blend with the other nails or really POP with its own party?Muted or Pizzazz?
My nail art is flamingo inspired for the beach this summer.I loved the pinks and gold in my Recollection stickers so I ended up going with a fuchsia pink beside the gold.
Then I started thinking, wait, flamingos are salmon colored-not fuchsia. So you can try that orangey tone next to the gold.I don’t like it as much as I like the Kiss Me On My Tulips by OPI.Then I put glitter on top of the orange color, and it can give you a much more muted but fun beachy look.
I wanted my party nail to really stand out, and the best way to do that is by using the lightest color in the gold glitter.
Look closely; see the white in that gold?So my base color should be the lightest color that is in the glitter….
The best ever white fingernail polish is Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear White On.Here is a sample of a cheapy cheap white by Sinful Colors-that’s what was cheapest in my grocery store that day. They’re mostly milky.OPI has a better one, Alpine Snow, but it still not the best.
This stuff is like white out.Raise your hand if you ever painted your nails with white out in school in the 80s….
Glitter Nail Polish
When you’re picking out glitter, make sure it is condensed looking. You do not want the ones that have big pieces of glitter or sequin type pieces (below). It’s super extra sticky, which makes it hard to get off.Plus, it has minimal impact. You hardly see the party. No one will want to attend that party.
See how the gold and purple glitter are like a powder? That will give you more impact.More bang for your effort.

When using a blue toned glitter, the base color can be a lighter purple, a pink or a light pink.So I’m going to try all three and show you the different party offerings.
So then I tried white because I do see white in this glitter.Look how it is turning out on the video above. It makes me not like this glitter as much.It looks goopy and not very condensed.BUT what if we painted our other nails a I’m Not Really a Waitress (red), and this white one with silver, red and blue glitter POPped?Lookslike a patriotic party, right? That’s next week’s nail art for sure! Happy Summer Beach Trippin, friends!
I’m going to review Coconut Oil – I’m obsessed! You will see an easy clothing hack for strapless dresses or see through dresses. I will share my favorite eyeshadow accent Crystal Waters by Cover Girl. You will love this new iPhone gadget – the PopSocket. The pop socket is a 2017 accessory for iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPhone 7 for kids and teens that gives your phone a grip. Then the Fidget Spinner is trending and spinning. Whether or not it helps with ADHD is yet to be sure. They relieve stress. And they’re fun to fidget with! All of these make up my Favorites products for the month of May in 2017.
I love this dress! It’s the first strapless dress I’ve bought since my wedding gown 15 years ago haha. But…it’s a tad see-through. The brilliant gal at Anthropology suggested a mini skirt slip pulled to my chest. I just so happen to have one. Ta-da! Self confident dress now.
Coconut Oil has been the rage for a while now, and I just last week tried it.
It isn’t oily, it goes on like lotion.
It doesn’t smell like coconuts or the old afro-sheen from when I was growing up.
I’ve heard you can put Coconut Oil in your hair to protect it from chlorine.
Watch the video above to see how smoothly it goes on. It is hard to keep it solidified in my house though. I feel like I need to keep it on my counter because it stays cooler there.
For Mother’s Day, my preteen gave me a Popsocket. Do I feel like the coolest mom now?! It gives you a grip while using your phone. You can text one-handed more easily. You can even stand it up to watch my LauriePOP videos!
This Cover Girl Crystal Waters blue toned eyeshadow palette is a replacement from the cheap, not-so-bright blue Ulta eyeshadow I’ve been using. The funny thing is is that I used to use this palette almost ten years ago and recently found it. They’re bright eye enhancers for the corners or my eyes and for smudging
right along my eyeliner. In the video, you can see it more clearly.
The Fidget Spinner will most likely be the toy of 2017. It’s awesome. We love it because our child can actually afford it and wait for it and be invested in working for something. NPR and Newsweek put out debates on the effectiveness for combatting ADHD but the jury is still out. And by jury, I mean teachers and parents. Could the fidget spinner be distracting to other students or teachers? They are really cute and can even be built with Legos.
These favorites for May are truly favorites! Thank you for POPping over to my LauriePOP Channel. Here are some videos you may have missed:
I’m showing you how to make your house wheelchair accessible or handicapped accessible. You may need to temporarily provide access for a wheelchair in your home. I am going to help you prepare your house for a wheelchair by giving you wheelchair hacks that worked for us. I’m dividing your house into 4 stations.
We took the doors off of the bathrooms…and by we I mean a friend named Jerry. Our walker would not fit through the bathroom door, but the wheelchair did.
In the video above, I’ve divided your house into four stations for your wheelchair. I promise the video will help you and your family member!
Power strips at each station
Anti-bacterial sanitizer for when you come back from doc or errands
Purse and wallet and credit cards
Water bottle, Aluminum cups
Padded Computer College board for eating
String tied to fan or overhead light so can turn off fan if cold or on if hot
Clothes and one shoe for night – getting to the bathroom that’s easy to slip on her foot
We just kept rubber gloves and clorox spray to clean it out in the tub
Clothes Pin or Clip for connecting the phone charger wire up close because he may not be able to reach that far down to get the wire.We clipped his to the lamp wire.
Clothes and a tennis shoe on the bed, towel, brush
Basket for dirty clothes and one for clean clothes
Deep cereal bowls are good because they can tilt without spilling.Shallow spill with the slightest of bumps
Tongs – to pick up items that fall and you cannot bend over far enough
Large pitcher if have to fill animal’s bowl with water or food or cut a gallon jug. Trick: Use them upside down for food.
What We Used:
I’m linking these items to help you and your family member.
We have this Walker, but it’s more expensive. We tried our best to move the wheels to the inside, and they don’t budge. Two men tried as well. But these walkers are very sturdy for family members who get off balance easily.
My YouTube above gives visual steps of how I made a Cup Cozy with Fleece. They’re great for coffee cups or water bottles…or two other FABULOUS ideas you’ll see in the video above near the end.
Isn’t it so cute? I chose an 80s color that is back, and like, totally, I grabbed it with a spoon!
Two strips of 3.5 X 14 ” of fleece, pretty sides touching (Fleece in plaid or solid on Amazon). Yours may not have a pretty side; sometimes both are the same. That’s fine.
Make marks 2.5″ down on both sides of the top layer so that you know where to stop the curve when you cut the ends.
Fold them lengthwise and cut a curved line from the corner of the folded side to this mark. When you cut it, it looks like a crayon! If your scissors are dull, you may need to do one piece at a time.
Stack them on top of each other again. Pin around, leaving a 3 inch opening along a straight side. Stitch all except for the opening. Then trim around the edges just to remove bulk; it won’t fray-yay! Go, fleece!
Turn it inside out and top stitch all the way around, closing up the opening. That stitching will help it look polished and professional.
Buttons can be expensive and make your cozy cost as much as they do in local shops. Sometimes I find odd buttons at yard sales. But buttons, as well as the material pattern, will help your Cozy be unique to each person. They help you express the personality and mood of the gift.
Oh my word, as I write this, it is November 2 and 85 degrees. I went a little Christmas crazy at The Dollar Tree this morning after uploading this video. Time to start baking, according to The Washington Post. And making lists on sparkly, cute journals! But that’s none of my husband’s business. Haha. Here are the last 3 gift ideas for Christmas.
Ipsy is a $10/month subscription that I can finally afford. If you’re buying it for a niece or sister or mama, it’s technically around $50 for an entire year. You receive a makeup bag each month, and each bag comes with five free samples inside. Technically, they’re not really free. This would be great for the woman who has everything, or you can pick a crazy expensive gift from The Washington Post’s article.
Ipsy asks you like ten questions to see which sample types you prefer. So, your makeup bag is tailored to you!
I LOVE this October one that I got-notice the totally cute ghost zipper handle?
In it I got a cute pink brush for smudging my eyeliner or applying an accent color on my eyes. The bristles are so soft, but they don’t bend very much. And that means the color can be more precise on my lid. They describe this makeup brush perfectly on their site.
Love love love this Cleansing Oil by Tatcha. Code ipsy15 for 15% off. You barely have to rub or apply pressure, and it rinses away easily with one or two swooshes of water. And my face doesn’t feel dry; it feels clean and moisturized. The fragrance is free, but there’s a hint of something from my childhood; I can’t put my finger on it.
Not my favorite because of its perfumey smell and wet-on-my-hand feel, this gel facial lotion is truly hydrating…in every sense of the word. You can see how wet my hand was in my video above.
This Vivid Brights Liner was a bit much for me, but this product is why I LOVE Ipsy. They will send you products you would normally pass by in Walgreens or Walmart. You have the freedom to try them, toss them, or regift them. This clearly is an eyeliner, but the box had it all on the eyelid, so that’s what I did in my video. Hahaha
Way too stained is how my lips were after this potent lipstick pencil. It’s so cute and handy, though. I love how the lid clicks! It’s like a good 80s song; I love that sound!
Been putting off going to a Plunder party, but I’m so glad I did. The mixed metals and leather look is so in this year. And their jewelry looks so different in person vs the catalogue. My friend Angela deals easily over cell phone and can take a picture of it on her arm if that helps. I don’t get anything from this, but I’m just saying that she makes it so easy.
They’re vintage looking golds, charms, and jewels. One thing I loved is the picture of my dad she put in a necklace for me. And that was a cell phone picture I sent her of my wedding album-so clear and crisp!
Have you been? Loved my girls’ trip there. I made a YouTube of our trip and what to do after you’re done shopping. I bought her hoop earrings and the #shiplap shirt, but those were just over 20. Here are some gift ideas under $20. The Magnolia tea towel, Bless Your Home tape, and a Christmas Ornament are my top picks. But if you can splurge, I highly recommend this always-on-repeat pair of earrings or her bracelet. These are SO Joanna Gaines!
